Should you drink tap water or bottled water?
Both are subject to the same regulation and measured against the same set of parameters. What changes is not the standard itself but the point at which the standard is looked for.
Is a sugar-free carbonated drink better?
The added sugar goes away; that is the change that is measured. In the guideline's daily drinks plan both products sit in the same area, and neither takes the place of water.
Why do you forget to drink water in cold weather?
In winter the reminders weaken but the need does not fall in the same proportion; the guideline's water calculation is tied to body weight and energy, not to the weather.
Who is a sports drink necessary for?
The guideline does not recommend sports drinks for anyone other than athletes; the product gains its real meaning in exercise lasting longer than an hour. In most cases water does the same job.
Why is the need for water overlooked in old age?
Because the need does not fall, the feeling weakens. In the guideline's reference table the recommended water intake stays the same over 65 as well; what changes is the sense of thirst.
Does drinking tea after a meal affect iron absorption?
The guideline writes in more than one section that tea and coffee drunk with a meal reduce iron absorption, and it recommends separating the drink from the meal.
Is a water glass the same for everyone?
The problem with the advice to drink eight glasses of water a day is the glass. The volume of the glasses used in homes varies between 200 mL and 560 mL.
What does drinking water when you wake up bring?
No fluid is taken in through the night while the loss continues. The first glass of the morning is a simple habit that starts the daily total early.
Does mineral water replace water?
Mineral water contributes to daily fluid but, unlike plain water, it carries minerals. That is why the sodium line on the label is read.
How do you track fluid while exercising?
The guideline gives a method that has you work out your sweat rate with a scale. Even a loss of two percent of body weight affects performance.
How much water does a child need?
The guideline's reference table separates by age: 1.3 liters at ages 2-3 and 1.6 liters at ages 4-6 are given as the recommended adequate intake.
Is drinking water during a meal a problem?
Water drunk during a meal adds to the day's fluid and gives the meal a slower pace. What decides is not the amount but the habit itself.
