The added sugar goes away; that is the change that is measured. In the guideline's daily drinks plan both products sit in the same area: the recommended daily amount for drinks with added sugar is zero, and for drinks with added artificial sweeteners it is zero as well. The tolerated range is wider for the second, but neither takes the place of plain water.
