Why should half of your grains be whole grain?
The guideline's recommendation is clear: at least half of the recommended total grain consumption should be 100 percent whole grain.
Whole grain is usually described as a preference, whereas TÜBER, Türkiye's national dietary guideline, expresses it as a ratio: at least half of the recommended total grain consumption should be 100 percent whole grain. The same section states that grains should be consumed at an average of 3-7 portions a day and that the amount to be consumed changes with the person's body weight, age, sex and physical activity.
