Do carbonated drinks count as fluid?

They enter the fluid total, but they are counted together with the sugar they carry. The guideline recommends keeping free sugar below ten percent of total energy.

Carbonated and sugar-sweetened drinks enter the daily fluid total, but they do not take the place of plain water; because along with fluid they also carry free sugar. In the recommendation it gives for free sugars, TÜBER, Türkiye's national dietary guideline, states that intake should stay below ten percent of total energy and that these items should be consumed as little as possible.
