Editorial and Scientific Board

Health content is only as trustworthy as it is reviewed. This page explains what process our content goes through, and who is responsible.

Peer-reviewed sources required Regular freshness checks
The board's role

What is reviewed?

The editorial and scientific board reviews the scientific basis and the language of the nutrition content published on the platform.

Pre-publication review

Claims are checked against their sources; statements without a source or that go beyond their source are removed before publication.

Post-publication freshness tracking

When the guidelines relied on are updated, content is reassessed; being published does not close a text to discussion.

Objection and correction

If you think a piece of content has an error, tell us. Correction requests are assessed against cited sources and you are informed of the outcome.

Process

How does a piece of content get published?

A piece of content goes through five steps before publication. Two of these steps are review.

1
Topic and scope are defined

What the content will cover, and what it will not.

2
A draft is prepared

Based on current nutrition guidelines and peer-reviewed publications; every claim is tied to a source.

3
Scientific review

Claims are checked against sources; statements without a source or beyond their source are removed.

4
Editorial review

Language is simplified, wording that could imply diagnosis or treatment is removed, and required disclaimers are added.

5
Publication and freshness tracking

Content is reassessed when its source guidelines are updated.

Our compass

What we rely on, where we stand

The three points of the compass: the sources we rely on, independence from commercial partnerships, and our own limit.

Source policy

Our content is based primarily on national and international nutrition guidelines, then on peer-reviewed publications. We do not use categorical statements based on a single study. If the evidence level is weak, this is stated clearly in the content.

Independence from commercial partnerships

Sponsored content goes through the same review as unsponsored content. A sponsor cannot ask for a finding to be removed or a recommendation to be changed. Content produced through a commercial collaboration is clearly disclosed to the reader.

Our limit

The board reviews a content's scientific basis; it does not make a personal medical decision. Nothing here replaces a physician's or dietitian's assessment.
